Where is the outrage over this?
Where is the ACLU?
Where are the marches with the “police state” placards?

Has anyone seen a NY Times editorial or front page story about this? Please let me know!
It goes like this:
….in Missouri, Obama has enlisted his allies in public office, including St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, to threaten criminal prosecution of any Missouri television station that runs ads about Obama that are untrue.
Since every politician sincerely believes that all ads run by his opponents are untrue, the field of potential criminal exposure is broad indeed.
This is outrageous. Worse than that, it’s stupid.
Campaign ads come in all shapes and forms. Some are lies and nothing but lies.
For example, how about Obama saying that McCain wanted to fight the Iraq War for 100 years?
Or, what about the steady flow of campaign ads that Pres. Bush cut taxes for the rich?
Or what about Obama and Hillary Clinton blaming NAFTA for job losses in Ohio and PA?
What about the mindless attacks on Gov. Palin and her family?
How do you fight campaign ads?
First, you act like an adult.
You don’t threaten to prosecute your political opponents because they want to remind voters that:
- you sat in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years but never heard anything that he said;
- you have corrupt friends like Tony Rezko;
- you talk a good game about public education but your daughters go to private schools;
- you have a friendship with a fellow like Bill Ayers;
- you play the “race card” whenever it’s convenient to do so! (“Dollar bill BO!”)
We are seeing into Obama’s soul.
BO does not like to be criticized.
BO has a problem with answering questions. BO wants to float into The Oval Office without any inquiry about his past.
We have seen the Obama campaign use tough tactics against people who challenge the candidate:
Add this to the threatening letters his lawyers sent to station managers over the NRA ads, the flash-mob smearing of David Freddoso, and the appeal to the Justice Department to prosecute the American Issues Project for its perfectly factual yet devastating Ayers ad.”
How is that going to work if he actually wins the election? It won’t work well! Frankly, it’s a bit scary!
Where is the “hope and change”? There is no hope and change, specially if you dare to question the candidate!

It is interesting to see incumbent politicians who are running for office touting how much experience they have and why the novice trying to enter the arena isn’t qualified to hold office. It is also interesting, even amusing, to see Barack Obama and the Democrats try to downgrade Sarah Palin for a lack of experience.
She has been a governor for two years. How many years has Obama been the chief executive in any state? What makes him an expert on foreign affairs just because he was educated in Asia? He makes a losing argument, but tells it well.
We have always had great disdain for the negative political ads. Basically, they are saying, “Vote for me. I’m not as rotten as the other guy.” Politics should be on issues, not personalities. But when you have no good issues, the bad politician has to use something to try to win votes. Perhaps someday the voters will catch on and vote for principles instead of politics.
The politicians are really good at casting stones at the opponent or other party, and considering how each one has its share of foul-ups, this is easy pickings for intelligent people to analyze and dismiss.
Both parties are guilty. During the Clinton administration the Republicans won the Congress with their “Contract with America.” They promised lower taxes, smaller government, better education and a better country.
We got lower taxes and higher debt. The government expanded to a size that broke all previous records. The “No child left behind” is a dismal failure. Two years ago, the Democrats took over Congress because they said they could do better.
Since then, gasoline has doubled in price, the housing market is crashing and the stock market is going into a tailspin. The typical political answer to the latter is to stick it to the taxpayer and bail out the banks. In fact, our senior senator, Chuck Schumer, reacted in a typical liberal way. He wants to start a new bureaucracy to solve the problem and prevent it from happening again.
The part of this great problem is that these disasters don’t just happen. They are caused. The most unjust part of the equation is that the CEOs who made tens to hundreds of millions of dollars giving and even encouraging sub-prime loans which caused this crash, will walk away from their jobs still being multi-millionaires and take millions more with the golden parachutes.
Perhaps there should be a crime of “felony incompetence.” The stockholders are being ruined by this debacle and the taxpayers will have to go deeper in debt to pay off the gross incompetence of the management and the politicians who, with all their experience and ability, didn’t see it coming. Or, they didn’t care.
As long as the money was rolling their way, they could afford indifference. What did Obama, Biden and McCain do a few years ago when it was evident that we were approaching this crisis? From what we can see, they did nothing. So much for competence!
They have not even passed a law whereby the incompetents in the businesses that have crashed can be sued and the money recovered be used to help repay the losses. If the stockholders and taxpayers go broke, why shouldn’t the people who caused the disaster also end up broke?
The approval rating for Congress is at the lowest level we can remember. This is justifiable because we could have sent the village idiots and town drunks to Congress and not done worse. It would appear from news articles, that some districts did this.
The only thing that can save our country is a true conservative philosophy of not spending beyond the ability to pay, reducing spending on a grand scale, getting rid of the useless bureaucracies and cutting back to the bone even on the useful ones. We don’t need higher taxes. We need better representatives and executives in government.
We get the government we deserve. This is a very important election. It is vital that ALL Americans vote this year.

In Obama’s world, the bad guys will turn nice when Pres. Bush leaves the White House. The world’s nasty characters will go back to loving the US.

Perhaps BO should have a chat with former Pres. Clinton. Or, Obama should read some of the newspapers from the 1990s.
Obama wants to “repair our image” around the world.
I’m not sure what that means. There was lots of anti-Americanism when Clinton was president. Clinton couldn’t get the UN to do anything, from Haiti to Bosnia to Darfur to Iraq.
The Irrationality of Anti-Americanism (A world gone mad) by Joe Loconte is worth reading:
“IF WE NEEDED more evidence that the anti-American vitriol from Europe and the Middle East is largely the product of manipulated imaginations, we have it.
A new World Public Opinion poll of 17 nations reveals significant support for the claim that the United States staged the 9/11 terrorist attacks–presumably for its own malicious and imperialistic designs.”
Is the world going to change because we change presidents? Again, Dems should have a chat with Pres. Clinton.
Ask the former president about all of those attacks on US interests during his term.
Nevertheless, how do you “fix our image” by stabbing Pres. Calderon of Mexico and Pres. Uribe of Colombia?
Obama’s words are clearly hurting our allies in Latin America.
Free trade is essential to reform Latin America. Look at Chile! Look at Mexico, which is a lot better off today because of NAFTA.
Obama is going to need our allies if he becomes president. Why is he hurting our allies and legitimizing demagogues like Chavez?

The Democrats were looking for a landslide with Barack Obama running for president, but with Sarah Palin entering the race on the Republican ticket, it just could prove to be an avalanche coming to bury them. The entry of this dynamic governor of Alaska could be a chilling reality for those who thought a slick talking empty suit could be unbeatable.
Sarah Palin has brought a new dimension to the campaign. She is vibrant, attractive, articulate and intelligent. She also, while running as the vice president, seems to be more of a competitor for Obama. Most of the media has focused on her more than John McCain who is the candidate for the top job.
The Democrats don’t seem to know what to do or how to handle this political phenomenon or how to deal with her. She has, with her surprise entry in the contest, presented a sort of glue to get the conservative base back in the electoral mix.
She is pro-life, supports freedom and the Second Amendment, and is the type of typical American that can identify with the average voter. The girl next door can be pride of the United States. She handles herself well in interviews and speaks with authority. She handles the liberal loaded questions well and isn’t intimidated by bullying tactics by the interviewers. It is easy to see why she got the nickname Sarah Barracuda.
It is pathetic to watch the liberal commentators and columnists (some try to pass themselves off as reporters) try to denigrate her to give Obama an edge. It doesn’t work. They say she has no foreign affairs experience. And Obama is an expert on foreign affairs?
It would seem from the “reporting” that now Obama is running against Sarah instead of John McCain. He would be better off to focus on McCain because he doesn’t stand much of a chance to beat her in a one-on-one contest. His camp tries to convince the public that she has no experience, but put her against Obama and she covers him like a fog in London.
The Democrats say she was a small city mayor and that is true, but what city did Obama run? Simple answer: None! She has been a governor for two years and accomplished more than her predecessors did in longer terms. How long has Obama run a state? Same answer. None!
Oh yes. He was a community organizer and a state senator for a couple of terms and then spent a little time in the Senate. Then comes the embarrassing question. What were his accomplishments? Tough to find! What legislation did he sponsor that passed? What was his record on important issues that he can brag about? Again, difficult to make a list.
He makes good speeches provided that he has a teleprompter. Without it, it is easy to spot his uneasiness and lack of facts. The joke is circulated about how he has campaigned in all 57 states. Perhaps he has geography confused with the Heintz corporation with its 57 varieties. That could put him in a pickle. Ugh! Bad pun!
One of the bigger problems Obama faces, and it can only get worse, is that people have seen so much of him before and during the primaries that he is getting stale. His programs and campaign promises are tough to contemplate because he obviously believes that he can actually create something from nothing. His programs will cost far more than American taxpayers can afford.
But if he can fool enough voters, he could get elected. The big problem is that he may actually get into a situation where he might have to explain in detaiL and show the public how his proposed programs can be done. So far, it is empty promises and smoke and mirror rhetoric.
It is too bad that he and Sarah Palin can’t have a debate. She would have him for lunch like an Alaskan Orca consumes salmon. While he has a lot of style, Sarah Palin has style and a lot of substance. The election is getting close. Let the games begin.

It’s a great line. It gets a lot of cheers from the “yes we can” screamers, specially the ones attending college while their parents pay tuition.
It sounds so nice and generous. Isn’t it amazing how you can sound generous by buying votes with someone else’s money?
It’s also a lie. It is the most obscene form of class warfare!
How can you cut taxes for people who don’t pay taxes?

Bruce Bialosky is the founder of the Republican Jewish Coalition of California. He is a licensed/practicing Certified Public Accountant and Real Estate Broker.
Today, he wrote an article blowing up BO’s latest attempt at class warfare. He calls it The 95% Solution:
“Mr. Obama seems not to be aware that in the last analysis of income taxes paid to the U.S. Treasury (in 2006), taxpayers whose earnings were in the lowest 50% paid only 3% of our total tax burden.
That means most of these taxpayers paid almost nothing.
The next lowest earning 25% of taxpayers paid only 11% of the total tax burden.
Collectively, this means the lowest 75% of earners paid only 14% of the current income taxes collected in this country.
Since 75% of Americans are already paying little or no taxes, how do you cut the taxes for 95% of Americans?”
The answer is that you can’t cut taxes for people who aren’t currently paying taxes.
Nevertheless, BO gets away with the line because the media is either ignorant or partisan.

John McCain made an excellent choice for the Vice Presidential candidate when he selected Sarah Palin. The campaign already has been too long and is crashing into a brick wall of boredom with the slick talking and empty promises we have been subjected to for several months.
Barack Obama gave a pompous acceptance speech when nominated by the Democrats. He made promises that sounded wonderful, but the chances of fulfilling those promises came up somewhere between slim and none. His skills appear to be confined to oratory because it ranges from difficult to impossible to define any real accomplishments in his resume.
The commentary from some watching the speech sounded like “Talk is cheap,” and “Yeah! Right!” When mentally adding the costs of his proposed programs and “promises for a better future” it would appear that there might not be enough employment by private industry in the United States to pay enough in taxes to fulfill those ambitions.
He chose as his running mate Joseph Biden, an old political warhorse who many remember as the king of plagiarism. He is also credited with being one of the more verbose members of the Senate who will never use one word when twelve will do almost as well.
Sarah Palin, on the other hand, brought a fresh face with a history of accomplishments and a history of standing on principles. She galvanized the conservative base with her pro-life stand and showed that she practices what she preaches. She knew that she carried a child with Down’s syndrome and would not terminate the pregnancy.
This shows a strong commitment to family values and a willingness to give the love and support to a child with special needs. It appears that she has many other fine character traits. Instead of condemning a pregnant teen-age daughter, she gives parental support to a child who made a mistake. It is refreshing to see a person demonstrate Christian forgiveness under trying circumstances.
Her acceptance speech was informative with descriptions of experiences in government, delivered with sparks of a sense of humor. Unlike several other political speeches, she made hers interesting.
She brings much to the table that John McCain needs in order to get the necessary base support that has been somewhat less than enthusiastic about his candidacy. The National Rifle Association has notified their members that the Obama-Biden ticket is a partnership of two of the most anti-Second Amendment Senators in Washington. Neither one has ever voted against even the most stupid of anti-gun bills.
Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is a Life Member of NRA and is very familiar with the connection between Second Amendment rights and the love of freedom. She also is an outdoors person very familiar with hunting and fishing.
NRA has not endorsed John McCain, but obviously believe he would not be the threat to the right to keep and bear arms that the Obama-Biden ticket would present. With Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket, it shows a commitment for Constitutional rights and gains the support of the four million NRA members and a high percentage of the eighty million gun owners in America. This is a solid voting base that can make the difference (and has in the past) in the results of elections.
Young, vibrant, intelligent, experienced, attractive and competent are adjectives that have been used to describe Sara Palin. What a refreshing change from the usual run of the mill politicians. She is an asset to the campaign and hopefully will be an asset in the White House.

The Palin story reminds me a lot of what Clarence Thomas went through back in 1991.
This video is one of the most dramatic moments of the last 20 years. Clarence Thomas went in front of Sen. Biden’s committee to answer some of the outrageous lies told about him.
Why were lefties trying to destroy him? Because Thomas refused to kiss Jesse Jackson’s ring in order to make it in life.
Thomas decided that there was a better way. He did not buy into the welfare state. He escaped from the Dems’ plantation.
This is how he reacted to the angry left’s attacks on his integrity:
Sarah Palin is having her own little moment with the feminists, another division of the US angry left!

In Why They Hate Her (Sarah Palin is a smart missile aimed at the heart of the left), Jeffrey Bell reminds us that this woman is not what the angry feminists had in mind for our first VP or President:
“From the instant of Palin’s designation on Friday, August 29, the American left went into a collective mass seizure from which it shows no sign of emerging. The left blogosphere and elite media have, for the moment, joined forces and become indistinguishable from each other, and from the supermarket tabloids, in their desire to find and use anything that will criminalize and/or humiliate Palin and her family….
The simple fact of her being a pro-life married mother of five with a thriving political career was–before anything else about her was known–enough for the left and its outliers to target her for destruction. She could not be allowed to contradict symbolically one of the central narratives of the left. How galling it will be to Sarah Palin’s many new enemies if she survives this assault and prevails. If she does, her success may be an important moment in the struggle to shape not just America’s politics but its culture.”
I guess that the feminist left is having massive indigestion. After all, how dare a mother have a baby? Isn’t the modern thing to do to have an abortion when you find out that your baby has down syndrome?
But it gets better! Check out Jack Kelly:
“With a smile on her face, Mrs. Palin sliced and diced Barack Obama with the skill she dresses a moose she just shot.”
What could be better than watching Tony Romo lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory?
How about watching a bunch of angry feminists make fools of themselves?

Labor Day has passed and it is fitting that we pay tribute to the people who work and make it possible for us to enjoy our standard of living. We also have to give credit to the labor unions that got rid of the sweat shops, unfair labor practices and unsafe working conditions. They also were most instrumental in getting higher wages for workers.
The pendulum swung and some think it has swung too far. They think labor has too much influence and if we are to progress as a society, labor and management have to come closer together. When management believes local labor is too expensive, they find ways to cut costs and will ship jobs off shore where labor is cheap.
This has left Americans without jobs. One only has to look at the garment, shoe, electronics and many other manufacturing industries to see that what used to be good jobs are no longer available. The auto unions had to agree to wage and benefit cuts in order to keep jobs in the area. It was better to have a job paying sixteen dollars an hour than to be out of a job that paid twice as much. Something is better than nothing.
The exception to the rule of “nothing is worth more than what people can afford to buy” is evident in the public sector unions. They have gotten so much power that they can call the shots to a point where their demands have exceeded the ability of the ordinary taxpayer to keep up with the increases in taxes.
Since politicians rely on union help and money at election time, they readily cave into the demands and use “creative” ways to raise taxes, or simply put the state and country in more debt with borrowing. This cannot continue.
A county may go into bankruptcy or need a control board to get them straightened out, but how can you do this with a state or the whole country? The taxpayers have reached their limit on excessive taxes. This is most evident in income and property taxes. Those are impossible for politicians to hide. It is also difficult for them to justify the raises.
School taxes are coming under scrutiny with the property tax bills looming large before us. With the high cost of gasoline and predictions of huge increases in heating fuel, the average taxpayer has cause for great concern. If you cannot pay your property taxes, the government takes your home from you. People think they own their real property, but in reality, they only lease it from the government.
The teachers’ unions are fighting to keep a law capping property taxes from being passed. They say it will hurt education. The motive is clear. They don’t want the budgets to be restricted, since most of the money goes for salaries. It is a labor intensive business and it is difficult to make cuts.
Most knowledgeable people agree that the school districts are top heavy with administration. It is almost like the goal of educating children takes a back seat to the interests of staff. There are few occupations in Western New York that have the salaries and perks given to those who are fortunate enough to work for a school district.
If a budget isn’t passed, the cuts are made at the teacher level by eliminating beneficial programs for the children. The school boards will cut music, art, sports and other programs that enrich the lives of the students in order to enrich the standard of living for the employees.
What other occupation has the protection of tenure where it can cost the taxpayers a small fortune to fire members of staff for not performing their duties as required? The unions are powerful enough to protect their members just as they do for auto workers or others with union protection. Tenure should be eliminated.
This is a subject that needs further analysis and discussion. Recent reports have revealed sweetheart pension deals and difficulty with removing undesirable teachers and administrators. The system should focus on what is best for the students and be adjusted to meet that goal. This is a job for courageous legislators and New York obviously does not have enough of them to get the job done.

We love to give presidents credit, and blame them, for the US economy.
In fact, there is a very little that presidents can do beyond proposing tax reforms.
Presidents don’t create jobs. They don’t force people to buy homes they can’t afford or tell banks to make bad loans.
Finally, presidents have very little to do with the value of your home going up or down. (Trust me. Your home value has nothing to do with the Iraq War!)
For example, did Bill Clinton’s policies cause the huge market crash of March 2000? Didn’t millions lose their savings because of that crash?

You heard a lot of doom and gloom in Denver. You heard a lot about the need for change from BO.
This is what you didn’t hear in Denver and won’t hear from Dems:
“Since Bush has been President, the unemployment rate has remained under 6.3% and averaged 5.2% (In Clinton’s eight years it remained under 7.3% and also averaged 5.2%.)” (Hoven)
This is what happeend in the last year of Clinton:
“The last four fiscal quarters under President Clinton showed steadily declining GDP growth rates of 4.8, 3.5, 2.4, and 1.9 percent, respectively.”
Bush, or Gore if he had won Tennessee, came into office with an economy declining rapidly.
Do we call that the Clinton recession?
What’s our next president going to be busy with?
It won’t be telling “yes we can screamers” what they want to hear about how everything is terrible because Al Gore couldn’t win Tennessee!
Get over all of the talk about the economy. On the domestic side, our next president will have to make the incredibly difficult and unpopular reform of entitlements. In other words, someone has to finally do something about Social Security and Medicare.
To his credit, Pres. Bush tried to reform Social Security by giving younger citizens a chance to privatize their investments.
How did the Dems react? They said that Bush wanted to privatize Social Security! (The Dems reacted to Bush’s reforms the same way that the PRD in Mexico is reacting to Calderon’s PEMEX reforms!)
Again, he didn’t. What he was calling for was a reform of a program that will go broke unless we take drastic action. Millions of baby boomers will start getting checks over the next 20 years. “Hope and change” won’t cover the checks!
What else will keep our next president busy?
Let me tell you: Iran, Russia, Hugo Chavez, foreign oil, Al Qaeda in the Afghan mountains, etc.
The Dems won in 1976 (Carter) and 1992 (Clinton) saying that the Republicans didn’t pay enough attention to our economy. What happened? Carter and Clinton spent most of their time consumed with foreign affairs.
What do we remember Carter for? Iran!
What is Clinton’s legacy, despite all of the garbage that you heard at the Dem convention: Doing nothing about terrorism and allowing Al Qaeda to attack US interests without consequence.
By the way, Clinton knows a lot about his inconsequential legacy. This is why he is desperately trying to get back into the White House to do something about it. For more on this, read Clawing for a Legacy By Charles Krauthammer!
Does it matter that we elect someone who understands foreign policy? The answer is yes!
The Dems understood this during the primaries and they warned us that BO wasn’t ready!
