permalink  Obama Will Flood Airwaves Tonight

Three broadcast networks — CBS, NBC and Fox — will carry a half hour of paid advertising by the Obama campaign at 8PM EST tonight, just before what could be the deciding game of the baseball World Series. From Agence France-Presse we have this:

Obama to flood airwaves in primetime TV pitch

White House front runner Barack Obama is to make a 30-minute primetime television pitch to the nation Wednesday in an extraordinary climax to his presidential campaign media blitz.

The Democratic candidate, running steadily ahead of Republican John McCain in the polls a week before election day, will air the unusually long advertisement on three of the four national networks: CBS, NBC and Fox.

The slots at 8:00 pm on the east coast and 7:00 pm in the central zone, right before the hotly anticipated next game of baseball’s World Series on Fox, could not be more choice.

At Fox’s request Major League Baseball has even agreed to delay the start of the game — which could decide the seven-game series — to fit in Obama….

…the multi-million-dollar barrage highlights Obama’s massive war chest and the ruthless way he is using that money to blast his opponent out of the media arena.

“The discussion about this election begins and ends with Obama’s fundraising ability,” said Evan Tracey, head of the Campaign Media Analysis Group, which analyzes campaign advertising….

Obama has raised record sums from private donors and total spending on campaign advertising is forecast by some to reach 250 million dollars.

That would dwarf not just McCain’s spending, but that in any previous election, and, on an annualized basis, even the advertising budgets of retail giants like Burger King, Apple and Gap….

Obama turned down public spending, gambling correctly that he could raise far more on his own.

As a result, he’ll end up spending about 100 million dollars more than McCain on advertising, Tracey said, a mismatch allowing Obama “to be in multiple places with a multiple presence” and “drown out” the Republican.

On Wednesday, Obama will be doing just that — not only blocking half an hour of national television, but appearing afterwards on the popular late-night comedy programme, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart….

permalink  What a Wonderful Day!

Some days in the UK, the news is just plain heartwarming.

  1. A Melanie Phillips article in the Weekly Telegraph‘s Spectator confirmins many of my suspicions about OBAMA (while avoiding his obvious Narcissistic Personality Disorder):

    Pinch yourself

….a Marxisant radical who all his life has been mentored by, sat at the feet of, worshipped with, befriended, endorsed the philosophy of, funded and been in turn funded, politically promoted and supported by a nexus comprising black power anti-white racists, Jew-haters, revolutionary Marxists, unrepentant former terrorists and Chicago mobsters, is on the verge of becoming President of the United States. And apparently it’s considered impolite to say so.

  2. The German Engineers who run Porsche and Volkswagen have taken the Hedge Fund brats for up to 9 Billion Euros. (The biters bit, I hope Soros was one of them.) The London Daily Mail reports:

Hedge funds face Volkswagen storm as Porsche takeover boosts shares
By Karl West at 2:49 AM on 29th October 2008

Germany’s Volkswagen briefly became the world’s biggest company as it motored into a share dealing storm that could leave a number of top hedge funds nursing heavy losses.

VW shares have risen sharply this week as Porsche built a 75 per cent stake, and unveiled plans to force through a deal to take control of the Golf and Polo car maker.

The German state of Lower Saxony owns a further 20 per cent, leaving a free float of just 5 per cent.

The share rally has wrong-footed hedge funds, which placed large bets on the car giant’s shares falling when Porsche took control. The surge forced the speculators to buy VW stock at inflated prices to cover their bad bets.

About 13 per cent of VW shares were on loan as of October 23, mainly to these so-called short-sellers. It is the most ‘shorted’ stock on Germany’s DAX Index.

One trader said hedge funds are scrambling around to buy enough stock to cover their losing bets. He explained: ‘The outstanding short position is 13 per cent and they (the hedge funds) are still trying to cover it with only 5 per cent of the free float. ‘This is probably going to be the most cataclysmic end of the month for the hedge fund industry.’

  3. Al BBCeera got over 10,000 complaints over a vicious tasteless attack on an old man on a show that was prerecorded and passed by their editorial department.

    ‘Obscene’ Calls: BBC Under Fire

The BBC is under unprecedented pressure after airing Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand making tasteless prank calls to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

The corporation has received more than 10,000 complaints after the broadcast, which has also prompted an official investigation from media watchdog Ofcom and drawn widespread condemnation from a range of figures including the Prime Minister.

The high-earning presenters left a series of crude messages on Sachs’ answerphone during a pre-recorded radio show.

They included boasts from Brand about his sexual relationship with the star’s granddaughter Georgina Baillie, 23, and jokes from the DJs that veteran actor Sachs might kill himself as a result of the revelation.

Gordon Brown has joined the furore over the on-air calls, saying: “This is clearly inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, as is now widely recognised.

  4. Last but not least, Londoners woke up this morning to SNOW in October for the first time since 1934, proof that global warming is, to quote David Bellamy, “The greatest scam since the medieval church sold indulgences.” SKY NEWS says:

    Octobrrrr: London Hit By Flurries
    8:37am UK, Wednesday October 29, 2008

Snow fell in London last night for the first time in October since 1934.

Snow and sleet also fell in northern Scotland and south-east England as temperatures plunged to -4C in parts of Britain.

Football matches were either postponed or abandoned at Luton, Northampton, Walsall and Wycombe because of the weather conditions.

Sky weather presenter Denise Nurse said: “It’s highly unusual to have snow in October – we haven’t seen October snowfall in London since 1934.

“But today will be cold, bright and frosty. Snow this afternoon will mainly affect Northern Ireland, Wales and the north of England. It’ll also be breezy, feeling almost blizzard-like….

permalink  The Vote Fraud Chronicles — Mississippi

If the election is close, it could be decided by vote fraud. In a nation that has the technology to put men on the moon, this is unforgivable. Our Revolutionary patriots risked all, and in many cases gave their lives, to secure for us the precious right of self-determination. From a report by Station WLBT, Channel 3, Jackson, Mississippi:

Voter rolls stuffed with dead and absent registrants
By Bert Case

Mississippi’s voter situation is hard to believe. Places like Madison County have over 123% more registered voters than people over the age of 18.

Sue Sautermeister, First District Election Commissioner in Madison County, tried to purge the rolls, but ran into trouble when it was discovered it takes a vote of three of the five election commissioners and the purge cannot take place within 90 days of a federal election.

Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann is the first to admit the situation with voter registration in this state is terrible.

“It is terrible,” he says. “Combined with the fact that we don’t have voter ID in Mississippi, anybody can show up at any poll that happens to know the people who have left town or died — and go vote for them.”….

Hosemann also describes “third party” voters who adopt a dead or relocated person’s identity to vote in return for “walking around money.”

permalink  Is Obama Anti-Israel?

The Los Angeles Times is refusing to release tapes of a dinner for Palestinian Rashid Khalidi attended by Obama. Unfortunately, the mainstream media cannot pull back this news report, so the cat is already out of the bag. Or, as HillBuzz puts it, the genie is out of the bottle!

From Fox News we have this:

LA Times Refuses to Release Tape of Obama Praising Controversial Activist
Video of farewell party for alleged PLO worker shows Obama toasting ‘friend and dinner companion’ with questionable past.

The Los Angeles Times is refusing to release a videotape that it says shows Barack Obama praising a Chicago professor who was an alleged mouthpiece for the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was a designated terrorist group in the 1970s and ’80s.

According an LA Times article written by Peter Wallsten in April, Obama was a “friend and frequent dinner companion” of Rashid Khalidi, who from 1976 to1982 was reportedly a director of the official Palestinian press agency, WAFA, which was operating in exile from Beirut with the PLO….

Khalidi is currently the Edward Said professor of Arab Studies at Columbia. A pro-Palestinian activist, he has been a fierce critic of American foreign policy and of Israel….

And here is the original Los Angeles Times article, published last April:

Allies of Palestinians see a friend in Barack Obama
By Peter Wallsten

CHICAGO — It was a celebration of Palestinian culture — a night of music, dancing and a dash of politics. Local Arab Americans were bidding farewell to Rashid Khalidi, an internationally known scholar, critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights, who was leaving town for a job in New York.

A special tribute came from Khalidi’s friend and frequent dinner companion, the young state Sen. Barack Obama….

… the warm embrace Obama gave to Khalidi, and words like those at the professor’s going-away party, have left some Palestinian American leaders believing that Obama is more receptive to their viewpoint than he is willing to say.

Their belief is not drawn from Obama’s speeches or campaign literature, but from comments that some say Obama made in private and from his association with the Palestinian American community in his hometown of Chicago, including his presence at events where anger at Israeli and U.S. Middle East policy was freely expressed….
