I can sure relate to your sentiments on this one. In Canada it is a different immigrant but the same problem. A few years back I remember seeing a cartoon of a long line of turbaned fully clothed East Indians walking out of the ocean with the lead one holding his hand in the air and shouting, “TAXI”.
Alternatively we have boatloads of Chinese abandoning the boat and coming ashore on some lonely coastal bay. It has got to the4 point where I feel uncomfortable in my own country and remaining silent because it is politically incorrect to speak out about it. Now I find these groups, as is their constitutional right insisting on maintaining their culture in our country as we are a multi-cultural country as opposed to a “melting pot” like the USA.
Or supposedly a melting pot. I remember driving through California one winter a year ot two back and getting lost off I-5 somewhere south of San Jose. I stopped at two places to ask for directions and they couldn’t speak English. They spoke Spanish. I had the same results with people on the street. Having that happen to me in the United States of America really surprised me. I just kept driving until I recognized a highway name and got back across those mountains back to I-5. Anyway I digress.
I grew up in a bi-cultural and bi-lingual country. I don’t remember voting to become a multi-cultural or multi-lingual country. Now we have RCMP police Officers wearing Turbans as that is their religious right. To me that is a religious symbol not a policing one. Now we have kids in schools with knives because it is a religious symbol. To me a knife is a weapon not a religion. These are the same schools that eliminated the Lords prayer to accomodate the multi ehtnic nature of the class room.
I feel like a tourist, a visitor in the country in which I was born. I spend a lot of time getting up to speed on various cultures to accomodate others. But I dont know at times. I begrudge having to make changes to accomodate newcomers to my own country especailly when the new comers expect me to.
There are so many different ways. Little ways but they all add up. As Canadians growing up we learn to walk to the right when approaching someone on the sidewalk. Chinese people go to the left. No longer is it politically correct to say “Merry Christmas” as it might offend someone. To me thats the point of that holiday. Its not a season. It’s not someone elses birthday. Anyway I am starting to babble. I coulod go on and on and on. I think I’ve made the point. Sorry for the spelling defects but there is no spell check on here to correct my typing defects.
The bottom line is immigration has to be legal not walk in. Otherwise it is not fair to those abiding by the law. Those not abiding by the law must be penalized. Simple as C comes after B which comes after A. It is typical of those not educated to expect illegal activities should not be penalized. To me an illegal immigrant should be deported back to his country. (period)

[...] Senators John McCain and Ted “Chappaquidick” Kennedy have co-sponsored a bill, S. 1033, that would give blanket amnesty to the 25 million illegal aliens who are currently in our country breaking multiple laws. (Our post about that bill is here.) Despite massive protests across the country from the legitimate American citizens, the Senate judiciary committee voted to bring that bill before the Senate. [...]
