Most of us will be glued to our televisions at 3PM this afternoon to watch Glenn Beck’s big speech at The Villages, a Florida retirement community. He has mobilized patriotic Americans to resist the Marxist takeover of the United States being perpetrated by the Obama administration.

Up until now, he has crusaded through his increasingly popular radio and television programs, leaving viewer ratings for the MSM networks in the dust. And last spring, he founded the 9-12 Project, a non-partisan social networking organization that gives coherence and clout to citizen protests.

But today he promises to announce a new direction. The Examiner reports:

Beck’s Saturday rally, which is set for 3 p.m., at the Villages (Near Lady Lake, Florida), will kick off his 2010 brainchild to win back Washington and preserve the Constitution. Glenn plans to announce details on his 2010 strategy at the rally.

And here’s the clip of the announcement from his television program on Fox News Channel:

Our readers are invited to discuss their reactions to the program in the comments section following this article.

UPDATE, 4 PM:  Well, that was a disappointment.  It was a good program, but it was a pre-recorded interview with Vince Flynn, author of Pursuit of Honor.  Glenn did reveal some of his strategy for the coming year, though, posted  on his website about halfway through this television program:

Glenn Beck reveals the Plan
November 21, 2009 – 15:28 ET

….There is much to do, much to learn and time is of the essence. While I will be explaining the entire Plan over the coming weeks and months, I did want to give you a preview of some of the highlights:

- Education is key, and not just for our children. To that end, we will be conducting a series of conventions. These will be full-day experiences where you will be immersed in learning about topics ranging from self-reliance, community organizing, the economy and how to be a political force in your own neighborhood and country….

Bottom line: The Marxist takeover of our country by Obama and his troops was facilitated by hordes of “community organizers” who had been training for years for that moment, in the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), among others. So millions of patriotic Americans will have to learn those skills to take our country back. And, starting next year, Glenn will be offering that education.

The New York Times was quick to react:

Glenn Beck Stakes Out a More Activist Role in Politics”

Glenn Beck, the popular and outspoken Fox News host, says he wants to go beyond broadcasting his opinions and start rallying his political base — formerly known as his audience — to take action. To do so, Mr. Beck is styling himself as a political organizer….

An ACORN scandal in Baltimore, then Washington DC, and now New York City, with hints of still more to come. Plan to watch the Glenn Beck Program at 5PM Eastern Time today on FoxNews cable to find out what comes next. Rumor has it that today’s exposé is even worse than those already shown, although it is hard to imagine how that is possible.

The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has long been plagued by scandal for voter fraud. Despite their dubious reputation, they have received over $53 million in taxpayer funds over the last 15 years, and were slated to get another $8.5 BILLION of stimulus pork from the Obama administration. They have enjoyed protected status since Barack Hussein Obama’s career was inextricably intertwined with ACORN activities.

Two young conservative activists, filmmaker James O’Keefe, 25, and journalism student Hannah Giles, 20, captured clandestine audio/video at multiple urban ACORN offices. Posing as a pimp and a prostitute, they sought help in getting a housing grant to set up a brothel and to prepare tax returns for the illegal income. They created a story that was as egregious as possible, declaring that they were going to import underage girls illegally from El Salvadore to work in the brothel, and planned to use the income to fund a run for Congress by O’Keefe.

Last Thursday, September 10, O’Keefe and Giles broke the story of their Baltimore sting. The next day, Friday, September 11, they released video of another sting in Washington DC. Dismayed by the worsening public perception of ACORN, the US Census Bureau dropped them from participation in the 2010 census. This created a jubilant mood among conservatives, who had seen ACORN’s influence as a way to rig the voting rolls to favor Democrats.

Saturday was completely dominated by the 9/12 March on Washington, and Sunday was devoted to analysis of the previous day’s accomplishments. Also on Sunday, O’Keefe and Giles released another video, this time of a sting in Brooklyn, New York. That was quickly followed on Monday by a Senate vote to block the Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) from giving grants to ACORN.

The Baltimore videos are here — The Performing Arts.

The Washington DC videos are here — Can It Get Any Better?

Here are the Brooklyn videos released Sunday. Enjoy.

permalink  Perhaps We Still Have a Free Country?

The US Census Bureau has severed its ties with ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Fox News reports:

The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census.

“Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN’s affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts,” read a letter from Census Director Robert M. Groves to the president of ACORN.

While vigilant citizens are rejoicing over this sudden turn of events, we must not be lulled into complacency. Note that only the census bureau has severed ties, and only for the 2010 census. We don’t know what other government agencies were slated to partner with ACORN in spending the $8.5 billion of stimulus pork that they were slated to receive. And there is nothing to preclude them from being rehired in 2011 for who knows what.

One sad note in all this is the fact that the government did not act on long-available information showing ACORN’s criminal activities until the publicity became dangerous to them. In July, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a report detailing the many criminal abuses perpetrated by ACORN, and the Democrat-controlled government did nothing. Zip. Nada. Bupkis.

It wasn’t until a couple of young crusaders went undercover and made clandestine videos of wrongdoing that the government took action. This tells us loud and clear that the Democrats do not care whether their minions engage in criminal activity. They only care about the appearance of things. They want to disengage the watchdogs until the incident is forgotten. Then they will go back to business as usual, most likely with ACORN.

Another sad note is the complete absence of media coverage, save for Fox News and Breitbart and of course the bloggers. In the following video, Glenn Beck tallies up the mainstream media coverage (you may have to wait or use the refresh button — this video is in great demand):

One final note about government hypocrisy merits consideration. When the award of $8.5 billion to ACORN was announced, the Obama White House said that ACORN would partner in the 2010 census. When it was announced today that ACORN would not be involved in the 2010 census, a census bureau official said that ACORN had been tapped for low-level data gathering. Which is it?

Rahm Emanuel managing the census in the White House? Or the census bureau in the Commerce Department?

Was ACORN a PARTNER or a LOW LEVEL FLUNKIE?

What a difference a day makes!

Our coverage of the two undercover stings is here:

Friday, September 11 at ACORN’s Washington, DC office — Can It Get Any Better?

Some history:

National ReviewPlanting Seeds of Disaster, October 7, 2008

“You’ve got only a couple thousand bucks in the bank. Your job pays you dog-food wages. Your credit history has been bent, stapled, and mutilated. You declared bankruptcy in 1989. Don’t despair: You can still buy a house.” So began an April 1995 article in the Chicago Sun-Times that went on to direct prospective home-buyers fitting this profile to a group of far-left “community organizers” called ACORN, for assistance. In retrospect, of course, encouraging customers like this to buy homes seems little short of madness.

At the time, however, that 1995 Chicago newspaper article represented something of a triumph for Barack Obama. That same year, as a director at Chicago’s Woods Fund, Obama was successfully pushing for a major expansion of assistance to ACORN, and sending still more money ACORN’s way from his post as board chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. Through both funding and personal-leadership training, Obama supported ACORN. And ACORN, far more than we’ve recognized up to now, had a major role in precipitating the subprime crisis….

permalink  Fighting for Freedom — The Glenn Beck Story

Obama’s crew pressured advertisers to dump The Glenn Beck Program. Beck’s ratings soared, over three million viewers in non-prime-time by Wednesday. An appetite for truth has been rekindled in America. To put this in perspective, Beck left Anderson Cooper and Larry King in the dust, and they both air in prime time when the pool of TV viewers is much larger. (Big Beck)

Glenn Beck

The current flap began when Beck did a program exposing the communist affiliations of Van Jones, Obama’s “green jobs czar.” In 2005, Jones co-founded ColorOfChange, an African American political advocacy group. ColorOfChange sent a petition signed by some of their members to all of Beck’s advertisers, urging them to withdraw support from Beck’s cable television program.

According to news sources, some companies did pull their ads — Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank (a unit of GMAC Financial Services), Best Buy, Broadview Security (formerly Brinks), CVS, GEICO Insurance, Healthy Choice (a division of ConAgra Foods), the advertising service Lawyers.com (run by LexisNexis, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. and misspelled Nexus Lexis in news reports), Men’s Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Re-Bath, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis (Plavix), Sargento Foods, SC Johnson, State Farm Insurance, Travelocity, Wal-Mart.

In response, Beck’s viewers organized a boycott of those companies. Websites supporting Beck sprang up. Two really good ones are:

  • Defend Glenn, which got 850,000 page views during its first day online, and
  • Support Glenn Beck, which includes a pro-Glenn-Beck petition to advertisers and great contact information.

There is just one problem for those companies that bowed to the pressure to suppress free speech. ColorOfChange claims that they have over 600,000 members, and that 75,000 of those signed their petition in response to an email request sent to all the members. Beck has over three million viewers, most passionately loyal. On top of that, ColorOfChange draws membership from a demographic that is on average less affluent than Beck’s largely middle class viewership. So advertisers who withdraw are shooting themselves in the foot.

And cost them it has. In the first three days of the DefendGlenn movement:

  • 9,000 GEICO accounts gone
  • 297 Ally Bank accounts closed
  • 7,200 boycotting CVS
  • 14,700 boycotting Sargento
  • 10,000 Travelocity accounts cancelled

And now it appears that claims made by ColorOfChange about the success of their effort to silence Glenn Beck were somewhat exaggerated (I’m being kind here). Several of the companies they claimed to have influenced did not advertise on the Beck program in the first place. It appears that the mainstream media just accepted the list of companies in the ColorOfChange press release and reported them without checking.

Bond Action Inc., a black organization focused on supporting the family, traditional moral values, and positive and honest race relations has come out in support of Beck — Black Group Comes Out In Support Of Glenn Beck:

BOND Action, Inc., a national cultural action organization, has come out in support of FOX News Channel broadcaster Glenn Beck. Beck has been under attack from the radical left-wing group ColorOfChange.org after he said last month that he believes President Obama is “a racist.” ColorOfChange.org was founded by Van Jones; a self-described “rowdy black nationalist.” Jones now serves as White House environmental advisor (czar). So far advertisers including Geico, Ally Bank, and Sargento Cheese have been intimidated into pulling ads off The Glenn Beck Show. “BOND Action, Inc.,will be working to expose the source behind the boycott and counter it,” said Founder and President, Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.

“Glenn Beck is right, Obama is a racist!” added Rev. Peterson. “Where were the boycotts and outraged activists when President George W. Bush was being falsely maligned as a ‘racist’? This is a blatant double standard. This boycott is an attempt to silence Beck from continuing his expose’ of Barack Obama’s socialist agenda and his radical ‘green jobs czar’ Van Jones.”

ColorOfChange.org claims some 33 advertisers have pulled their ads off The Glenn Beck Show, but that number is reportedly exaggerated. ColorOfChange.org has a checkered past. The group reportedly endorsed outrageous statements by rapper Kanye West that former President Bush gave troops permission to go to New Orleans and shoot black people during Hurricane Katrina. Beck’s television program draws more than 2 million viewers and BOND Action, Inc., is calling on advertisers not to cave in to pressure.

Rev. Peterson said, “ColorOfChange.org claims that it exists to ‘strengthen Black America’s political voice’ — but it’s clear that they are a left-wing, racist political group that deal in lies. This attempt to silence Beck is an attack on free speech and must be countered.”

permalink  The Organized Resistance

Obama is socializing America with breathtaking swiftness. Thinking Americans watched in disbelief as the teleprompter-dependent token-black front man for American communism co-opted the census, appointed tax cheats, and fear-mongered Congress into a pork-laden national debt that most ordinary folk cannot even comprehend. In what many consider a last-ditch effort to save the vision of our founding fathers, citizens are seeking organization in the form of online communities.

Glenn Beck — You Are Not Alone

The most recent and spectacular addition to the roster of protests is the national community launched yesterday (Friday, March 13 at 5PM EST) by Fox News Channel talk show host Glenn Beck. The meeting began during his one-hour cable television news show, with satellite groups joining from around the country linked in by video. The meeting continued on the web with streaming video for another half-hour, featuring comments from the audience and Glenn’s replies.

Glenn’s message to taxpayers who feel stifled and isolated by an overweening government — “You are not alone. We surround them!” He reminds us that on September 10, 2001 we were materialistic and complacent, on September 11 we were startled and fearful, and by September 12 we remembered who we really were — courageous and patriotic citizens. So his new organization is designed to make us be that way again, and is called The 9-12 Project. It is based on nine principles and twelve values — you can read all about them here. There is a website, but so many folk tried to visit it seems to be permanently crashed. We’ll update our readers when it comes online. UPDATE March 14 @ 12:22PM: The website just came back up, and it is here — The 9-12 Project.

Here’s the show, with tremendous gratitude to video editor PEACPAC:

Glenn Beck – We Surround Them – FOX 3-13-2009 – Part 2

Glenn Beck – We Surround Them – FOX 3-13-2009 – Part 4

Glenn Beck – We Surround Them – FOX 3-13-2009 – Part 5

Also worth viewing, if you want to get into the spirit of this movement, is the terrific coverage of one of the satellite meetings by Kansas Meadowlark. Sharon Evans, a lady from Lenexa, Kansas, paid $140 out of her own pocket to rent the Senior Center, capacity 90 seats. Reports Meadowlark:

All 90 seats were full and about 25 were standing for most of the meeting.

Meadowlark’s article is filled with video clips from the Lenexa viewing party, all worth watching. Listen to these folk, and you really will feel that you are not alone. Great job by Meadowlark!

Many folk used MeetUp.com to organize their viewing parties. It was the largest subject usage that organization has experienced to date. The “We the People” group quickly attracted almost fifteen thousand members. You can get an overview of the groups forming across the country by visiting the Ning-based social networking website We Surround Them, which is providing a second forum alongside the MeetUp effort.

But Glenn’s is not the only game in town. Here’s a roster of some free membership organizations that you can join to make your voice heard in Washington.

Free Republic

The oldest, and perhaps the most “feel-good,” is Free Republic. Structured only as a forum for the sharing of ideas, it has nevertheless spawned a lot of activism, as members who meet online plan local activities. A prime example is the on-going effort by “FReepers” in the District of Columbia to support the wounded soldiers returning to Walter Reed Army Medial Center in NW Washington. The militant leftist group Code Pink stands outside the hospital insulting the soldiers, but since April 2005 the FReepers have been there every week supporting the troops.

Melanie Morgan — Move America Forward

Former California state assemblyman Howard Kaloogian and San Fransisco-based conservative talk show hostess Melanie Morgan organized Move America Forward. Their website is a clearinghouse for news and activism. One of their notable events occurred during September 2007 — a “Fight For Victory Tour” in the form of a caravan travelling across America with rallies in major cities along the way. They also create advocacy ads for television.

Newt Gingrich — American Solutions

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich organized American Solutions in late September 2007. Taking full advantage of Internet technologies, their online presence affords many different kinds of member participation. Their flagship annual event is a national Solutions Day for participants throughout the country linked by Direct TV and webcasts, followed by local workshops over the next two days. The first annual Solutions Day was held September 27, 2007 followed through September 29 by workshops viewed in more than 2000 local group meetings held in all fifty states. The event was repeated in 2008 — you can watch video of some of the presentations here.

Steve Elliott — The Patriotic Resistance

Grassfire founder and president Steve Elliott has formed The Patriotic Resistance, a national organization for activists with state and local (congressional district) chapters. Facilitated by online communications, in addition to petitions and letter writing campaigns, this organization is intended to put local “boots on the ground.”

Roger Hedgecock — Roger Report

Former San Diego mayor and popular talk show host Roger Hedgecock has organized an online community around his new nationally syndicated radio show. It’s a clearinghouse for news and activism, and members can blog. He’s using the Go To Meeting web-based application to facilitate interaction.

Rick Santelli — Tea Party Movement

Speaking from the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade on Thursday, February 19, CNBC’s Rick Santelli called for a Chicago Tea Party. This has become known as “the shout heard ’round the world” and has spawned the national Tea Party Movement. The movement has quickly self-organized, with local groups springing up in several major cities.

permalink  Release Of API Tapes Imminent

Audiotapes of Michelle Obama alternately threatening and cajoling bloggers over their coverage of her husband’s presidential campaign are soon to be released on Fox News, according to African Press International (API).

For those who are tuning in late, this is a credible group of African bloggers with journalistic credentials who have been operating unheralded for the last two years, providing general news coverage of events in Africa. Many of their nineteen reporters are actually in African countries, but their posting is headquartered in the relative safety of the Norwegian diaspora.

Back on October 13, Israel eNews posted an article describing the conflicting stories about Obama’s birth, and cited the Philip Berg lawsuit requiring Obama to produce a valid birth certificate. On October 14 API simply quoted the story, thinking it would be of interest to their African readers. API did not take a position on the story pro or con — they simply shared the Israel eNews material with their readers, leaving the readers to make their own judgement about the merits of the story.

To the complete surprise of the API folk, their Africa-targeted report caused a firestorm in the American Blogosphere. This apparently earned the wrath of Michelle Obama, who was reportedly put in touch with API by a mutual contact in Africa. The entire drama that unfolded then is described in our earlier article — Michelle Obama’s “Whitey” Moment.

The folk at API were truly caught off guard. They had never intended anything like this. Suddenly they were caught between demands of American conservatives for release of the tapes, and threats of legal action from Obama supporters. They had not advised Michelle Obama that the call was being recorded, something that they likely did not from nefarious motives but simply to take notes.

Understandably, it took API some time to seek counsel and cover for their predicament. The liberals have used the intervening time to attempt to discredit these ordinary bloggers, in much the same vicious way that they went after “Joe the Plumber.” And the original Israel eNews article has, at the time of this posting, been taken off-line. But not to worry, we have archived a copy here at ADMC!

If the current negotiations go through, Fox News is a good choice from the viewpoint of those in the US who simply want to know the truth. Any of the other networks are likely to excerpt the tapes in such a way as to make the material meaningless, or at least to hide the attempted intimidation. And if the Obama juggernaut is going to threaten our freedom of speech, we would like to know now.
