On May 18, 1965 Col. David L. Hrdlicka formerly of McConnell Air Force Base was captured in Laos. The fact that he was captured alive was well-known at the time, because his captors paraded him before cameras at their press conferences. Below is a picture from Pravda of Col. David Hrdlicka in captivity, very much alive and with his captor holding a gun to his back. Also he was interviewed many times by the Russian press after his capture. His POW status is well-documented.
For almost forty years his wife Carol has been pleading with our government to find out what happened to her husband, who was one of the known prisoners abandoned during the rush to normalize relations with Vietnam after the war.
Whether John Kerry knew that he was building his Senate career by abandoning our missing men out of selfish ambition cannot be proved as a fact. What can be proved, because Senate hearings are recorded, is what he said to the grief-stricken wife. When Carol wanted to ask a question of the committee, Kerry snapped:
“I ask the questions. You supply the answers.”
The self-centered arrogance revealed in this short statement tells you everything you need to know about John Kerry’s personal character in making a decision about who would make a moral and courageous leader for our great country.
Carol Hrdlicka has written a letter that expresses what she feels her husband would have written if he could. She sent the letter to attorny Arnold Beizer of the Let Freedom Ring foundation for the return of POW/MIAs. One of my buddies obtained a copy for us, and I urge all of you to read it. It is a rather long letter, so I have posted it “below the fold.” Read the rest of this entry »»
