Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez can’t wait to have the results of the presidential elections in the United States. He is already saying that he is willing to talk with Barack Obama if the Democratic candidate wins Tuesday’s election (Chavez says Obama win could spur talks with US). 

No wonder freedom-loving Latin Americans see an Obama victory as a Chavez victory that will destroy any hopes for freedom, democracy and progress in Latin America and will empower the Marxists, violent guerrillas and Islamic terrorists who are working with Chavez. 

While stealing millions from his compatriots, Chavez has been investing heavily in every possible strategy to destroy the United States and its allies, mainly Colombia. To damage Colombia, Chavez has funded monumental propaganda campaigns against Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. 

Chavez’s propaganda has worked. Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi not only refused to approve the vital Colombia free-trade agreement, but prevented anyone else voting on it. After President Bush submitted the pact to a vote under fast-track rules, Pelosi changed the rules. By a 224 to 195 House vote, the voting timeline rule on trade pacts was changed from 90 days to whenever. Democrats Freeze the Colombian FTA with the “Chavez Rule” was the headline at Noticias 24 following Pelosi’s historic move to block free trade with Colombia.

Everything indicates that Obama will also support Chavez. During the last Presidential debate, responding to McCain’s support for Bush’s free trade proposal with Colombia, Obama repeated Chavez’s propaganda against Colombia.

Obama’s refusal to side with Colombia would be a sign to U.S. friends that they will be delivered to their enemies for the “crime” of having trusted Washington. 

Fueled by Obama’s remarks during the last debate, demonstrations against Uribe mushroomed all over Colombia. Those demonstrations, most likely funded and organized by Chavez’s cronies, seek to weaken Uribe’s position and prepare Colombia to be taken over by Chavez’s allies (Marxists, drug cartels and terrorists).  

Cuban writer Alberto Montaner wrote: “The only real ally that the United States has in the region is Colombia. However, if the Democrats win – as everything seems to indicate will happen – it’s very possible that the U.S. military support to Colombia will be reduced significantly and the U.S. Congress will refuse to sign the free trade agreement with Colombia. By increasing Chavez’s influence and power, and promoting Colombia’s demise as a free country, a U.S. government controlled by the left will multiply the danger of terrorism against the United States. Chavez, who calls Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad his “brother,” is working with Islamic terrorists against the U.S. and has even pledged that his country would support Iran if it was invaded as a result of its nuclear standoff with the United Nations Security Council. Chavez is also working with the Russians to harm the U.S. He has bought arms from Russia, and says that Russian planes can sink ‘gringo ships.’ (Chavez: Russian Planes Can Sink ‘Gringo Ships’)  We pray the United States may be delivered from Obama, who will harm the United States and its friends, and help U.S. enemies, such as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez.

During the last presidential campaign in Ecuador, Rafael Correa used the media to discredit the opposition and brainwash voters to vote for him. Once in power, Correa became a dictator. He is working with Hugo Chavez, imposing “socialismo del siglo XXI” (Marxism) in Ecuador and collaborating with Islamic terrorists. Informed Ecuadorians could not understand how the media could be so biased in favor of the leftist candidate Correa.

Many believe the media became corrupt because Hugo Chavez not only funded Correa’s multi-million presidential campaign, but also paid the media. Anyone trying to inform Ecuadorians regarding the real Rafael Correa was ridiculed, discredited, vilified, sued, accused of infractions or crimes, and finally silenced. As it happened in Ecuador, the mainstream media in the United States has also demonstrated unethical and unrestricted support for the leftist candidate, in this case, Barack Obama.

On the one hand, they have refused to report on important and relevant topics that reflect negatively on Obama. On the other hand, they have focused on trying to destroy Presidential candidate John McCain and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin.  While most news reports about Obama are positive, most news reports about McCain are negative. And ever since Sarah Palin was nominated as the Vice Presidential candidate, the media have gone wild criticizing, ridiculing and insulting her at every turn. Most of those attacks have been factually wrong and intellectually dishonest.

In addition to attacking McCain and Palin, the mainstream media is also attacking anyone who tries to show Americans the real Obama. Even Joe the Plumber has been vilified for asking a question that prompted Obama to uncover his plan to “redistribute the wealth.”

The Mainstream Media and Jerome Corsi

The smear campaign against Jerome Corsi is a case in point.  Dr. Corsi (PhD Harvard) is a senior staff reporter of World Net Daily (WND) and the author of the New York Times No. 1 best-selling book, The Obama Nation.  An independent and courageous journalist, Corsi put his life and well-being at risk to travel to Kenya to dig up the truth about presidential candidate Obama. Corsi was rightfully concerned, as any thinking American should be, about Obama’s connections to Kenya’s thug Raila Odinga.

CNN attacked Corsi and defended Obama. “Book on Obama blasted for ‘vicious innuendo’” wrote the title of a CNN article. “There’s a new book out about Barack Obama that some say is riddled with pretty much every unsubstantiated rumor you’ve ever heard about the Illinois senator.”  CNN continued with negative comments against Corsi from the Obama camp, but it never bothered to cover the most important issue for Americans, the issue presented in Corsi’s book: the connection between Obama and his Marxist relative Odinga. The New York Times also focused on attacking Corsi’s credibility calling him a “gadfly.”  ”In the summer of 2004 the conservative gadfly Jerome R. Corsi shot to the top of the best-seller lists as co-author of “Unfit for Command,” began the New York Times article. Showing complete lack of ethics, the mainstream media has failed to properly inform Americans about what Obama did in Kenya.  They have justified ignoring this story based on comments from the Obama camp and details that perhaps need to be confirmed. However, the underlying (more important issues) are verifiably true. In August and September 2006, Senator Barack Obama traveled to South Africa, Chad, Djibouti, Ethiopia, and Kenya. While in Kenya, Obama consistently appeared at the side of fellow Luo Raila Odinga (“your agent for change”), who was running for President.

Obama’s partisan support for Odinga was so transparent, that the Kenyan Government spokesman, Alfred Matua, complained of political posturing to aid Odinga’s election chances: “It is very clear that the senator has been used as a puppet to perpetuate opposition politics.” (Source — Walking The World Stage, Newsweek 9/11/06.)  Obama used his elected office — and taxpayers’ dollars — to support Kenya’s Odinga, a violent Marxist thug who made a pact with the Muslims to institute Sharia (Islamic law) although only 10 percent of Kenyans are Muslim.

Odinga’s followers killed some 1000 people and burned 800 Christian churches, including one with 50 people, many of them children, inside. During a KTN interview in Kenya, Odinga admitted signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Muslims, but said the MOU did not include anything regarding Sharia because he’s an Anglican. However, Odinga LIED. In the MOU Odinga signed, he promised to “within 1 year facilitate the establishment of a Sharia court in every Kenyan divisional headquarters, to order primary schools to conduct daily Madrassa classes, to impose a total ban on open-air gospel crusades…” Read the MOU… Memorandum of Understanding Between Hon. Why is the U.S. media so desperate to support Obama as to hide important information Americans have the right to know? In their efforts to keep Americans ignorant of negative information about Obama, the U.S. mainstream media has lost all credibility.

A Hollywood production company is proudly sporting offensive T-shirts that are intended to demean Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin. According to their own promo:

The misogyny of the radical democrats now in control of the party structure is not new with the candidacy of Sarah Palin. In the primary it was directed at Hillary Clinton, as manifest by this unique T-shirt design sold at T-SHIRT HELL. Although widely distributed, this highly prejudicial design went uncommented by the mainstream media, who usually raise a disproportionate furor over the use of the term “hos” or “hoes.” Where was Al Sharpton when Hillary was pilloried? One can only imagine the puzzlement of Don Imus, whose career was nearly destroyed when he jokingly used the same term.

…Hackers break into Sarah Palin’s e-mail account.

WASHINGTON – Hackers broke into the Yahoo! e-mail account that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin used for official business as Alaska’s governor, revealing as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate.

The Secret Service contacted The Associated Press on Wednesday and asked for copies of the leaked e-mails, which circulated widely on the Internet. The AP did not comply.

I do not believe the actions of the AP in this case are protected by the Shield Law. They are not protecting any sources, and one would think they would want to do the right thing.

I guess they’re choosing to do the left thing.

The disclosure Wednesday raises new questions about the propriety of the Palin administration’s use of nongovernment e-mail accounts to conduct state business.

Really? So what? Yahoo email is free.

The practice was revealed months ago — prior to Palin’s selection as a vice presidential candidate — after political critics obtained internal e-mails documenting the practice by some aides. One person whose e-mail to Palin apparently was among those disclosed, Amy B. McCorkell, declined to discuss her correspondence. “I do not know anything about it,” McCorkell said. “I’m not giving you any comment.” Wired.com said McCorkell later confirmed that she did send the e-mail to Palin.

Another of the e-mails apparently revealed Wednesday was an exchange in July with Alaska Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell discussing a talk show host who had been critical of Parnell. Parnell declined to discuss the matter.

Where’s the proof that she profited in any way from these emails? More innuendo and unsubstantiated rumour.

I know that dirty tricks like this happen on both sides, but it seems to be the left who perpetrate this kind of nonsense more often. Once again, here we are focusing on Sarah Palin and not Obama, McCain, and the policies of each. It angers me greatly.

Now, of course, the Machiavellian side of me considers the possibility that this could be a Reichstagging by McCain/Palin’s own people, so I’ll withhold final judgment. Either way, it has to reflect poorly on Obama and his Obamaniac supporters.

For an idea of how the radical left perceives this presidential campaign, and more significantly, the American political landscape generally, consider the following essay which was submitted to a left-wing blog site recently. The piece can charitably be labeled “elitist mumbojumbo,” and that would be the best that I can say. The factual misjudgements therein are nothing out of the ordinary, considering the source, but the arrogance of it astounds. One wonders, occasionally, if the Democrats are really democrats.

The writer is intimating that there must be an ancillary reason for so many of the “little people” to oppose the liberals, since the “progressives” (what a term for this bunch) are so obviously the purveyors of truth and correct public policy. The public, we are told, are swept away by symbolism and campaign slight-of-hand, being, presumably, too ignorant to grasp simple truths. After all, the “progressives” are so obviously righteous, how could a reasonable, thinking person deviate from the party line unless they were corrupted by charlatans such as Ronald Reagan or John McCain?

Elements of this diatribe remind me of passages from Lenin’s What Is To Be Done? — the idea being that one’s own position is so obviously correct that any opposition must be founded in corruption. (It then follows, as Lenin said, that in such a case any means used to overcome the corruption are justified). That is how the world ended up cursed for seventy years with the barbarous, murderous regime, the USSR, still fondly memorialized by so many of our left-wing friends in academia.

I have seen some frightening commentary during this election cycle, but this arrogant, elitist leftist gets the prize with this fairy tale. It is posted on BuzzFlash, a website avowedly “FOR PROGRESSIVES, BY PROGRESSIVES” using the popular corruption of the meaning of “progressive.” Here’s a sample:

Fred knocked this one out of the park. The feeble foundation that Obama based his entire standing on, just got ripped out from under him. His empty rhetoric of hope and change can’t work for long when there is no substance and character behind the talk.

In order for the form of representative democracy practiced in the United States to function effectively, it is necessary to have an intelligent and informed electorate. We have all become aware of the failure of the mainstream media outlets to keep us accurately informed. The poll figures showing the strong support for the presidential candidacy of Hillary Clinton call the intelligence factor into question as well.

We have watched with amazement as large numbers of voters bought into the theory that being married to a politician equals experience in governance. While most aspiring candidates work their way upward through local and state offices, Hillary Clinton went directly from a scandalous marriage to the seat of the US Senator from New York State. However, one reflects that there are large ethnic blocks in that state which would vote for anyone who runs as a Democrat, so perhaps that is explainable.

Like other women extending the term-limited or death-limited cult of a previously governing male — dime store clerk Lurleen Wallace or nightclub dancer Isabel Perón — Hillary slid into the Senate on Bill’s stained coattails. Admittedly, Hillary has better academic credentials than the two examples cited. But what is to account for her success in the nation’s heartland? It is almost incomprehensible. In a news conference Deanna Favre announced she will be the starting QB for the Packers this coming Sunday. She claimed she is qualified to be starting QB because she has spent the past 16 years married to Brett while he played QB for the Packers. Because of this she understands how to pick up a corner blitz and knows the terminology of the Packers offense. A poll of Packers fans shows that 50% of those polled supported the move.

Does this sound idiotic and unbelievable to you? Yet Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be President and 50% of democrats polled agreed.

Although it is likely that he has never thought of such a thing himself, I have heard several people suggest, only half joking, that he should run for president of the United States. For some time the thought has crossed my mind, and I was surprised when I heard some fairly heavy hitters verbalize this. But I am late to the party. Back in July, the Alpaca Burger Forum had the following post:

The presidential candidate who says he or she will bring our troops home from Iraq, and post them on the U.S. southern border, will be the next president.

This rules out all of the current Democrats, I believe, and most of the Republicans. It does leave an opening for Lou Dobbs.

I hope he/she will be an outstanding middle classman, a well mannered and extremely well educated (no MBA, please, we already have one) and knowledgeable person, with analytic mind and exceptional intellectual abilities. I hope he/she will demonstrate a profound understanding of today’s economic and political trends, both domestic and international, and be able to foresee real dangers and challenges that this nation must face. I hope he/she will have a strong sense of priority and proportion that will let him/her see the difference between right and wrong, and truth and falsehood, and will report to (or appease) no one but those who elected him/her into the Oval Office. And I hope that at the time of election his/her name will be already known to millions of Americans so that he/she can win a majority of vote of the Electoral College.

Well, Lou Dobbs is such a man. If former actors could win and succeed, he would, certainly, too …. We still have time to think. A year or two from now it may be too late….

….we could be seeing the Ross Perot of 2008…..The Perotistas more or less continue to exist as Republican leaning independents. However, this constituency is likely very dissatisfied with the current situation…. neither party is representing this constituency.

Who knows whether Dobbs might actually consider running–it seems doubtful. But the … political stage is set perfectly for a populist Washington outsider.

Ever since Jim Gilmore dropped out of the race, my favorite candidate has been “none of the above.” But if Lou Dobbs were to run, this little old lady would lace up her sneakers and campaign her heart out for him.

The Fred Train is chugging along, coming ’round that bend.

Impatient friends fret about the slow speed, even with the Election still 15 months away. Opponents are more worried. Alarmed at poll ratings — still surprisingly high for a yet-to-be-announced entry in the 2008 Presidential race — foes of Fred dig into the embankments for dirt or any old flotsam they can toss: Didn’t that Fred vote for McCain-Feingold? Didn’t this lawyer once represent abortion in one of his hundreds of cases? Didn’t he, and even his sons, make some lobbyist moola? Didn’t he defend a Judge whom Democrats were able to label, in one of 7000 cases, "racist"? Hey, Trophy Wife, Trophy Wife!

Yet even hard-working dirt-diggers are resigned to the fact that former Senator Fred Thompson probably will make his campaign official in September. Friends know that he’s not without misgivings over how McCain-Feingold has worked out for free speech and the Soros-funded; that he understands that in Western jurisprudence lawyers sometimes represent murderers, even abortionists; that he was so "attracted" to lobbying that he went into acting instead; that he defends judges who defend the Constitution; that he even believes that men who have known life may make better judges than the sterile abstractions who survive the Grand Inquisitors of confirmation and go on to demean, if not disgrace, the bench; that he married his very attractive wife Jeri — an attorney and Republican media consultant — 17 years after the still amicable divorce from his first wife, and has two young children by her. Enemies seem caught between playing the bimbo card here — a virtual impossibility — or the "hottie" card — a possible gambit, but dumb — or else just shutting up and eating their hearts out — unlikely, except for the latter.

Does this mean that Fred is now more or less in the clear with all those who, in this Year 19 BC (Bush-Clinton), pine for Ronald Reagan and American clarity, realizing that Fred Thompson may not be the Second Coming, but who might be willing to let him demonstrate how close he can get?

Home free? The answer is no.

We now have revelations about Fred Thompson and Spencer Abraham. Abraham is an ex-Senator from Michigan, ex-Energy Secretary for Bush, and all-around high-powered Islamic lobbyist (although he himself is nominally Christian of Lebanese extraction). He seems to be the kind of Republican that Republican voters, but not Republican hacks, are sick of. That Thompson would now wade in such oil slick does not convey the Tennessean who some admirers thought they knew. Reports have described this "moderate" Abraham variously as Thompson’s new "Campaign Manager," or "Campaign CEO" or "adviser" or "Ambassador to Washington."

The current twist seems to be that Abraham will not — repeat — NOT function as "Campaign Manager." He will only be the "adviser." Whether or not this is just Spin For Dummies, one fact is clear: Fred Thompson indicates no intention of shucking away the high-powered Islamic Lobbyist Spencer Abraham.

This suggests that Fred sees no conflict here with the American people, despite the hints they gave to Washington during the furor over the attempted Dubai Ports deal. He may see no logical connection either with the national angst, bordering on fury, over illegals and alien infiltration. Like most politicians, he may believe that only some "nativists" or "bigots" question whether Islam is compatible with Western civilization. Evidence that Spencer Abraham may not be anti-Israel would settle the matter for the typical American politician and his typical supporter. Israel is supposed to be the only bellwether for their "right-wing" flock. Passing the Israel test should be enough to overlook an open-borders kind of guy who also stopped Arab profiling even after the notorious "Phoenix" case. Fred’s Spencer Abraham is high-powered, all right. In the Phoenix case the FBI would not investigate muslims taking flight lessons before 9.11 for fear of being charged with "racial profiling." In our great PC Republic the label "bigot" is like damnation.

Is this judgement, or just condescension from someone who hasn’t done his homework on the nature of East vs. West?

Unfortunately for Fred Thompson, the matter has been documented by passionate right-wing blogeress Debbie Schlussel (gringo-dubbed ‘Warrior Jewess Extraordinaire’). Schlussel knows Spencer Abraham. She knows Michigan’s "heart of Islamic America" and Detroit and ‘Dearbornistan’ ad islamum. She knows it very well. She’s taken personal risks there, unlike the media herd, and been threatened. Yes, her style may be shoot-from-the-lip. You might not invite her for tea and crumpets. But you will note the attorney precision and wealth of evidence.

Her post is entitled, "Jihad Spence: Fred Thompson’s Pan-Islamist Campaign Manager. (AP had reported ‘Campaign Manager,’ the unflattering fotos are her selection.) She wrote,

As a Senator, he [Abraham] took marching orders from James Zogby of the pan-Islamist Arab American Institute, opposing profiling of Arabs, the use of secret evidence against Muslims (at the behest of Muslim groups), attempting to repeal the Clinton counterterrorism package, refusing to fund computer tracking of student and other foreign aliens, giving millions in our tax money right to Hezbollah, and putting CAIR on the map on Capitol Hill (taking the group’s officials around to meet other Senators and Members of Congress). He took campaign contributions from the relatives of Hezbollah-backed top Lebanese officials after he got the group millions in our tax money….

Later in the post Schlussel wrote:

As Energy Secretary, he gave top secret tours of nuclear facilities, as well as detailed information on how we secure them to Muslim nations who are our enemies. And he gave out undue post-9/11 awards to Al-Qaeda money-launderers … at the White House. The money launderers were raided by U.S. Customs Service agents.

Schlussel (who knew Abraham personally) goes on to describe what he did for Islamists after leaving the Bush cabinet.

Lurid? Will a "correction" stating that Spencer is "just" Campaign CEO or adviser, not "Campaign Manager," be enough to placate Fred’s former admirers? It probably won’t be for those like ‘GOP Mind’ at MonicaMemo of ABC Radio’s Monica Crowley who wrote,

And I was going to vote for this guy.

It might not be enough for two edgy ladies who had been impressed with Fred, like important New Media personalities Michelle Malkin and Laura Ingraham. On Laura’s highly rated talk show Monday, July 31, Michelle made it clear that she’s "troubled" by these Bush-like Abraham/Islamic connections. Laura, although obviously taken aback by the revelations, seemed to be reserving judgement.

It might not be enough for Dymphna, of the well-known Gates of Vienna. Here’s her reply to my comment at Fausta’s blog for the post My Neighbor and Fred on August 01, 2007, a post which was very supportive of Fred:

Unfortunately, I’m in gringo man’s camp. I really liked Fred and I thought Mrs. Fred was cool (she reminds me of my daughter in looks).

But hiring Spencer Abraham blew it. What in God’s green world was Fred thinking? Does he need the Muslim vote, is that it?

He’ll have to have a mighty fine explanation for hiring an Islamist fellow traveler. Our most important issues are immigration and Islam. They are essential and darn it, Fred fell down on this one, scaping my knees when he did.

Red Alert to Fred: Many — no, not everybody, but many — are suddenly disappointed, even turned off. Wrongly so? Is it wrong to be asking now: How does he fix a great big hole where judgement was supposed to be?

Fred, of course, is welcome to set things straight, if that is possible now. He also has the option of not meeting this head on, of not thinking outside the Beltway box, of not dealing with it in a way that mollifies the disillusioned and leads to reconsideration. A man of qualities, Fred undoubtedly would still have a number of backers even while connected to high-powered Spencer Abraham and CAIR, the Open Borders lobby, the North American Union lobby, (the Anchor Baby Lobby?), the Bush "It’s a religion of peace" lobby etc.

And maybe this will be enough for that Fred Train, or will seem to be, during the initial euphoria of the coming announcement.

Or maybe not. Many had been leaning to Fred over Rudy.

This lineup of Democratic presidential candidates is getting more bizarre by the moment.

Now, Barack Obama says President George Bush has been an empty shell in the White House over the past six years. To wit: Obama said:

“This president may occupy the White House, but for the last six years the position of leader of the free world has remained open. And it is time to fill that role once more.”

In essence, Obama is saying that he will soon step into “W’s” shoes to do a better job.

For Obama to compare himself to George Bush is like Anna Nicole Smith comparing herself to Marilyn Monroe. One had true class, personal style and an innate, genetic talent for her profession. The second was a small-time, inexperienced, often pitiful puppet created by the mainstream media.

World vision and great leadership is not something you can buy down at Walmart. It grows out of deep intellect, personal heritage and a clear understanding of the human heart and spirit. I don’t sense any robustness of heart, mind and spirit when I hear Obama speak.

What the hell has he ever done?

Got himself elected senator in an all-black suburb of Chicago? Even in Congress, what’s he done? I don’t know of a single piece of Obama Legislation which has gained major attention. Basically what he has done is make himself the darling of the liberal media because he is black, stylish, well-spoken and good-looking.

In the event of a world crisis, “W” can consult with his father instantly and draw upon one of the greatest political minds of the 20th century. I’m sure than John Quincy Adams, our nation’s sixth president and son of John Adams, the second president, had a similar relationship with his father.

At least Hillary, if elected, could consult with her husband to make some informed political choices.

And Edwards… Who would he turn to in a moment of national crisis?

Probably God… That’s about his speed….

But Obama…who would he call on? His speechwriters? His PR guy? His tailor? His make-up man? His wife? Howard Dean? Al Sharpton? Nancy Pelosi? Maybe… like Edwards, he’d probably call on God too.

In boxing, there is a saying that promoters use when differentiating between a true boxer and a contender. In pointing out the difference, they say the contender is not qualified to carry the personal equipment of the other boxer into the ring. The exact quote is: “He couldn’t carry his socks.”

Barack Obama can’t carry George W. Bush’s socks.
